Periodontitis is an inflammation of the periodontium and one of the most common dental diseases. Often traditional medication only reaches the acutely inflamed part of the wound – the process is shifted from an acute to a chronic condition. If left untreated, in the long run periodontitis can lead to tooth loss and it increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and others.
That is why it is crucial to develop an appropriate treatment strategy which could quickly stop the inflammation, repair the damaged tissue and improve the quality of life of the patient.
